Infant mortality: Is this what we want to see in our country?

I was reading the NYTimes and saw the following article:

"In what health experts call an ominous portent, progress has stalled and in recent years the death rate has risen in Mississippi and several other states.

The setbacks have raised questions about the impact of cuts in welfare and Medicaid and of poor access to doctors, and, many doctors say, the growing epidemics of obesity, diabetes and hypertension among potential mothers, some of whom tip the scales here at 300 to 400 pounds.

“I don’t think the rise is a fluke, and it’s a disturbing trend, not only in Mississippi but throughout the Southeast,” said Dr. Christina Glick."

Is this how we care for the children who are living?

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/22/health…

What they do not talk about is the high influx of illegals, nor do they talk about the excessive numbers of young unmarried kids who are getting knocked up and thinking they can hide it from their parents. Don't take all you read to heart. There is more often than not a whole other story on the other side of the coin. Especially with news print.

We rip a million unborn babies a year from their mother's wombs in this great nation of ours. And the liberal rag NYT worries about infant mortality rates? I sense some irony here.
Add those million murdered babies to the statistics and see what kind of death rates you get.

First of all, religious nuts don't even need to bring abortion into this. If you are a man, and unable to concieve, deliver, OR abort a baby, you have no right to say anything about womens reproductive choices. Secondly, when we need billions of dollars in the federal budget for a needless war, then you have to make cuts somewhere. So yes, the poor, the helpless, the children suffer. So what? Cheney and all of his cohorts are making a killing in Iraq right now. The rich keep getting richer, the poor, well, they will probably starve to death.

So...the cuts in welfare.....are to blame for obesity. in the US..lol!
