How do I tell my parents I might have Juvenile Diabetes?
I had another question earlier. And the thing I'm not getting answered is how to tell my parents. I really need to be tested and my mom laughed last night when I told her. She doesn't understand how serious this is. I'm losing lots of weight and my pants are now really big on me. And I have so many other symptoms, too. How do I tell my parents that I need to be tested right away?

Go to the internet and look for the signs of juvenile diabetes and give them to your parents. Sit them down and tell them how you've been feeling and tell them how serious this is and how it makes you feel. Or even go to your school's nurse and get her/him to speak to your parents. You let the doctor do it. No wonder they laughed at you -- you are not a doctor.
You don't tell you parents that you have a specific disease -- that make you sound like a hypochondriac. You tell them that you are sick, and insist that they take you to the doctor. Then, you tell THE DOCTOR about your symptoms.
It might also help to involve the school nurse with this. Visit him/her, and ask for their help.
[Actually, the school nurse MIGHT be able to do a "finger stick" test which might give you some ammunition....]

print out the symptoms and show her that u have em and give evidence.
or if she wont listen when u go to school and start feeling that way go to the nurse and say all the symotoms and she might call the hospital
or if all fales look at here in the eyes and say " mom this is serious, a life threating disease. it better to be safe thatn srry, do u want be to get into a coma and die just cause u wont let me be tested" then walk off
Go up to your mom again and tell her you need to visit a doctor. Then she will ask why. Then tell her you want to talk to your doctor about the symptoms you may be having. If she laughs at you. Tell her that your serious and your concerned for yourself.
Tell them just what you posted here. Tell them you are scared for your health. If they still do not comply I would recommend going to the school nurse if you have one. If your school does not provide one, go to your family doctor without them. It is better to be safe than sorry!
